Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on an order declaring an emergency and a grave necessity
due to unforeseeable circumstances and approve a budget amendment to acknowledge additional
expenditures for the General Fund.

Background

The state legislature passed House Bill 9. The bill became effective September 1, 2015. The bill raises the
employee's retirement contribution for the next biennium. The state has required the county to pay for the
additional retirement contribution for the District Attorney. However the state is providing the supplemental
funds to offset related expenditures. The budget amendment is to recognize the September 2015
revenues and expenditures related to the increase.
