Discuss, consider and take appropriate action to approve termination of contract for asphalt emulsion services with Western Emulsions, Inc. and authorize County Judge to sign 30-day notice of termination for convenience pursuant to Section 3.2.8(b) of the contract documents (Invitation for Bid # 14IFB00225).
Background
Western Emulsion is the primary vendor on the multiple line item Asphalt Emulsion contract. Their material has failed several tests and the County has also received citizens’ complaints about the material. Road and Bridge provided this company multiple chances to rectify their issues which never occurred. Therefore it is the recommendation to cancel this contract for convenience and purchase from the secondary vendor (s) for the remainder of the contract period.
