Consider approving Change Order No. 2 in the amount of $250,000.00 for RM 620 Safety Improvements, a Road Bond project in Precinct One.

Background

This Change Order adds a force account item to the Contract to compensate the Contractor for the closure of karst features discovered during construction operations. The force account will cover Karst features 1 - 5, as well as any subsequent features, which will be closed in accordance with approved TCEQ Closure Plans. The closure plans for the Karst features 1, 3, 4 and 5 consist of filling the void with concrete to seal out infiltration and eliminate the potential contaminant pathway. The closure plan for Karst feature 2 includes excavating access openings, placement of sandbags to the drain areas, placement of gravel in the lower portion of the feature, placement of a flowable fill cap on top of the gravel, and placement of concrete in the vicinity of a storm sewer pipe and to plug the access openings.
