Consider approving Change Order No. 7 in the amount of $154,716.20 for Chandler Road Phase 3A, a Road Bond project in Precinct Four.

Background

This Change Order adds new contract items necessary for the modification of the profile grade on Chandler Road on both sides of the intersection with FM 1660. Chandler Road was designed to stop at the intersection with FM 1660. Since opening Chandler Road Phase 3A to traffic, new traffic counts show more traffic on Chandler Road than on FM 1660. A traffic warrant analysis was performed to determine if the intersection met the criteria for a flashing beacon or four-way stop. The intersection did not meet warrant criteria for either a flashing beacon or a four-way stop, however TxDOT has determined that the stop condition should be changed from Chandler Road to FM 1660.

To provide a safe roadway profile for traffic traveling at the speed limit of 55 mph on Chandler Road, the existing elevation of the intersection and the Chandler Road approaches need to be modified. The Contractor will mill the existing intersection pavement down between 0 and 2 inches, place level-up hot mix asphalt along the Chandler approaches, place a new hot mix asphalt overlay surface course and re-stripe.
