Discuss and consider approving the extension of the existing contract for RFP# 11WCAP127 Fully Insured Basic Life and Voluntary Life Insurance and AD&D, and Voluntary Disability Program with Cigna Group Insurance.

Background

Extension term will begin November 1, 2013 and end on October 31, 2014. This contract will be extended for the same terms and conditions as the existing contract with no rate increase. The CPI tied to this contract is 1.5%. If this contract was rebid at this time, rates may likely increase. It is the recommendation of the Human Resources Department to extend this contract with the current vendor Cigna Group Insurance.
