Hear presentation by Baker-Aicklen & Associates, and take appropriate action on the Trails Master Plan for the Parks Department.

Background

On September 27, 2011, the Commissioners Court approved funding to secure professional services to develop a Trails Master Plan for the Parks and Recreation Department. The draft Trails Master Plan that will be presented to the Court was developed through a planning process that gathered information and ideas from a variety of stakeholders throughout the County. Stakeholders include, but are not limited to Members of the Commissioners Court, local municipal Parks & Recreation professionals, Municipal Utility Districts, and Williamson County staff. The Trails Master Plan will help identify existing and future trail development opportunities between unincorporated areas, municipal utility districts, and cities. The Trails Master Plan will highlight gaps and priorities between existing trails, and will be an important planning tool that helps define future opportunities for the County to facilitate further development of a countywide trail system that meets citizen desires and expectations.
