Consider authorizing transfer request for 2006 GO Park Bonds on the following amount: $15,000 from Brushy Creek Trail Phase III (P130) to Trail Master Plan (P248)
Background
According to the 2008 Comprehensive Park Master Plan, walking, hiking, and biking trails are the most highly used part of the County’s Park System. This is true today, and citizens in the County remain extremely supportive of greenways and trails. Trails appeal to many age groups, and they connect people with the environment, to other parks, neighborhoods, commercial areas, and major attractions. By using stream corridors, off road paths, utility and road easements, trails and greenways allow people to move freely and more safely with limited vehicular traffic. The Trails Master Plan will dovetail with the County’s Transportation Plan to help identify existing and future trail development opportunities between unincorporated areas, municipal utility districts, and cities. The Trails Master Plan will highlight gaps between existing trails, and will be an important planning tool that helps define future opportunities for the County to facilitate further development of a countywide trail system that meets citizen desires and expectations.
