Information
Agenda Item
Discuss and take possible action delegating the authority to the County Judge to waive and/or reduce fees at the Williamson County Landfill for up to 14 days in case of disaster or emergency.
Background
During the recent flooding disaster, it was realized that our current policy of asking the entire court to meet and act upon waiving or reducing fees was not as efficient as it could be. It would be beneficial for county residents for the landfill fees to be reduced immediately following an incident to aid in the clean up of debris. Commissioner Birkman recommends that the court delegate this authority to the judge so that he has the ability to waive the fees for up to 14 days, if/when we have another disaster. Beyond that time frame, the court can meet and vote on whether to extend the fee reduction.
