Consider approving Change Order No. 11 in the amount of $54,792.33 for US 79 Section 5A, a Pass-Through project in Precinct 4.
Background
This change order is comprised of three separate items of work.

(1) Drainage ditches were being prematurely eroded due to excessive rainwater runoff from the adjacent plowed fields. Therefore, concrete riprap was needed to prevent erosion at high velocity locations in some ditches. In addition, rock riprap is needed near culvert headwalls to prevent erosion. This change order provides a pay item for the rock riprap.

(2) The overhead signs required by the plans for Phase 2 construction created a conflicting message. Therefore, an existing overhead sign being used during Phase 1 construction was relocated to present a clearer message. This change order provides payment to the contractor for this work.

(3) Seven drainage culverts that cross the roadway are not required to be completely replaced. Of these seven, three of the existing headwalls on the south side of the roadway were in need of repair, work which was not included in the PS&E. TxDOT requested repairs to these three headwalls. This change order provides payment to the contractor for this work.
