Discuss and take appropriate action concerning award of Workers' Compensation Insurance contract effective 10/1/09.

Background

Proposals were received for Workers' Compensation Insurance and the current vendor, Texas Political Subdivisions (TPS), submitted the best proposal. The current premium is $891,914 annually. TPS proposed a new premium of $636,308 annually. A 29% reduction which is $255,606 less per year.

TPS also proposed a 3 year rate guarantee, however, the discounts applied for our group's actual experience may vary. Then, upon renewal, Williamson County is also eligible to receive a $17K dividend.

The current carrier, Texas Political Subdivisions, is recommended for award of this contract effective 10/1/09.
