Discuss and take appropriate action to approve the Radio Equipment Transfer of Title document between the City of Austin and Williamson County for equipment acquired through a COPS funded Interoperable Communications Technology Program grant awarded on September 2, 2005 to the City of Austin.

Background

The COPS funded Interoperable Communications Technology Program grant was a $6,000,000 federal grant with a $2,000,000 match, of which Williamson County appropriated $1,850,0000 for the purchase of Williamson County radio system infrastructure and the City of Austin appropriated $150,000 to upgrade the Austin/Travis County Regional Radio System operating software. This grant provided a multi-jurisdictional interoperable radio communication system that allows for seamless radio coverage across the two counties. As shown on Exhibit “A”, the City of Austin will retain $600,000 for the Austin Regional Radio Upgrades. The remainder equipment totaling $7,390,000 will belong to Williamson County. A Radio Equipment Transfer of Title between Williamson County and the City of Georgetown for the IP consoles also listed on Exhibit "A" is presented on this week's agenda. The Radio Equipment Transfer of Titles between Williamson County and the cities of Round Rock & Cedar Park will be presented for approval in the near future for the IP Consoles listed on Exhibit “A”.
