Discuss and consider approving a line item transfer for the Sheriffs Office:

Background
The Williamson County S.O. utilizes a mobile digital video system in its patrol vehicles known as WatchGuard. Each of these systems carries a one year factory warranty. Over the past year, the Sheriff’s office has had approximately fifty percent (50%) of our units sent to the company for various types of warranty work. If these repairs had not been covered by warranty, the average monthly cost to the county would have been $1600.00 or approximately $19,200 annually. Currently 24 units no longer have warranty coverage and 34 additional units warranty coverage will expire in December 2009. The remaining 21 units will expire in the spring of 2010 and the warranty for these units will be addressed at that time.

This transfer request is to purchase an additional one year of coverage for those units that have expired and those expiring in December of this year. The cost per warranty is $250 per unit per year.

Due to the poor performance of these units, a different camera system is being evaluated for future vehicle purchases.
