Discuss, consider and take appropriate action regarding Change Order No. 6 in the amount of $103,537.20 for RM 620 Safety Improvements, a Road Bond Project in Commissioner Pct. 1.
Background
This Change Order provides for the balancing of the overrun/underrun of Contract quantities for the project as a result of addressing field condition not accounted for in the original plan quantities and adds new Contract items for various work. The Change Order includes cost savings for underrunning flowable backfill, replacing concrete riprap with stone riprap in various locations, and utilizing existing conduit in lieu of new 2" and 3" conduit bores. Additional costs were added for a 36" storm sewer not quantified in the contract quantities, additional traffic control with peace officers for public safety, additional one-way signs in the median, adding new street names signs to the signal mast poles, and adding precast concrete islands to limit left turns. This Change Order also compensates the Contractor for the investigation to locate an existing Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District (BCMUD) waterline and for the installation of additional pipe for the connection to the existing waterline.
