Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action regarding the authorizing County Judge (or appointee) to sign an extension agreement of the County's contract with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for the Low Income Repair, Rehabilitation and Replacement Assistance Program (LIRAP) and to request funds under the contract.

Background

The amendment to contract number 582-12-20269 is to provide for funding to the county's LIRAP program (AKA DriveaCleanMachine AKA AirCheck) for the period ending 8/31/17. Funding for FY 2016 and FY 2017 has been set at $423,494 per annum.

The AirCheck - DriveACleanMachine program is designed to help vehicle owners comply with vehicle emissions standards to reduce ozone forming exhaust precursor compounds from on-road motor vehicles. Vehicle owners of registered vehicles in Williamson County may be eligible for repair assistance of up to $600 for emission related repairs. Also assistance for replacement of vehicles meeting certain program guidelines may be provided to citizens meeting program eligibility requirements.

The contract to be extended under this action has been previously reviewed by counsel.

The amendment and a letter request for funds are attached.
