To discuss, consider, and take appropriate action on the implementation of a County Burn Ban for a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of 90 days, and to authorize the County Judge to lift the ban if conditions improve.

Background

Williamson County has experienced a significant increase in the number of outside fires over the past three weeks, leading to multiple mutual aid responses. The Keetch Byrum Drought Index (KBDI) is increasing rapidly each day due to a lack of rain, 100 degree days, and continued high pressure. The rains during the spring have led to a significant increase in the amount of available fuel for wildfires. The request for the ban was made by the Williamson County Fire Chief's Association.
