Consider approving Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $55,261.60 for RM 620 Safety Improvements, a Road Bond project in Precinct One.

Background

This Change Order extends Contract item 100-2002 Prepare ROW to compensate the Contractor for clearing of dead trees and shrubs to eliminate fire hazards east of the project to Deepwood Drive. This Change Order adds a new Contract item for modifications to the water quality ponds required by TCEQ. The additional comments from TCEQ were received too late to incorporate prior to letting. The modifications required additional excavation, geotextile fabric and a toe ditch. This Change Order also adds a new Contract force account item to compensate the Contractor to secure and protect karst features discovered during construction. The Contractor may be asked to provide labor and equipment to secure the entrance, make the entrance accessible for investigation, and place erosion controls, barrier fencing, berms, etc.
