Consider awarding bids received for Hot Mix Overlay Brushy Creek MUD/Great Oaks Subdivision to the lowest and best bidder - Ramming Paving.

Background

Kon Kwan and Terron Evertson analyzed the two bids that were submitted for the Intersection Hot Mix Overlay Project. We first looked at the bids to make sure they were not unbalanced and then we compared the bids against the Engineer's estimate. Ramming came in at $351,168 and APAC came in at $387,420. The project is relatively small, with traffic control required on each intersection, it is at the end of asphalt season (most contractors have their season filled by now) and it is only a three item project (mostly pavement, but also traffic control and striping, so the field of interested contractors is narrowed).
I would recommend Ramming be awarded the project.
