Discuss and take appropriate action regarding approval of the Central Texas Deferred Compensation Plan Charter and By-laws and appointment of three Committee Members and three Alternate Committee Members to represent Williamson County as a participating employer.

Background

This is a cooperative project that has been in process since December 2009 when Williamson County issued an RFP for a Section 457 Deferred Compensation Plan provider and then rejected the 3 proposals received. Our current Section 457 Deferred Compensation Plan Vendor is Nationwide Retirement Solutions.

The purpose of this collaborative effort is to be able to provide a better value to the employees/participants in this Deferred Compensation Plan than we are able to obtain on our own as a single employer. We currently have approximately 260 participating employees in our Section 457 Deferred Compensation Plan.

Attached is the Charter and Bylaws that have been drafted by Hal Hawes. At this time, each of the cities’ governing bodies have an approved charter and by-laws from their respective councils.

Please note that the Court will need to appoint a total of six (6) committee members should the Charter be approved. This consists of 3 Committee members and 3 Alternate Committee members from the County’s employee population.
