Information
Agenda Item
Discuss and take appropriate action regarding UTMB FY 2010 Interlocal Cooperation Act Contract between UTMB and Williamson County.
Background
Based on Bride’s email, it appears there is no need for such agreement. We can simply let the current agreement lapse and not renew our relationship. Thanks.

Hal C. Hawes

Peggy,

I do not recommend that we continue to contract with UTMB. Under the terms of the new contract, UTMB requires that counties agree to pay up to $60,000 per eligible person served. That is not within the scope of our county’s program.

We have not used the UTMB system in Galveston for a very long time. Our residents have been successful in accessing necessary medical services in this area, so referrals to the Galveston facility have not been required.

Our program does make some payments to the UTMB facility located within Brackenridge Hospital in Austin. I spoke with a representative in UTMB’s County Affairs Division. Those services are not affected by this contract, and we expect to continue to pay those at standard Medicaid payment rates, and not to exceed our established $30,000/fiscal year liability per patient.

I recommend that we allow the current contract to lapse. In that case, perhaps it would not be necessary to have this on the court’s agenda. Hal and/or Jim, please advise us concerning that.
