Subject: FW: Request for a WillCo Rep on the Greenprint Regional Steering Committee
Judge Gattis and Commissioner Long,
Following up on the brief discussion we had after Executive Committee in May, I wanted to give you an update of where we are and see if you all might still be interested in having a Williamson County representative on the Regional Steering Committee that will provide general oversight over the whole Greenprint process. Please let me know how you would like to handle this; Sean Moran and I could come back to meet with the commissioners court if you feel that would be helpful. Here’s is the update Sean provide me:
We recently held the Kick-Off Meeting with the Federal Highway Administration for the Central Texas Greenprint for Growth. In deference to the Williamson County Commissioners Court, we are continuing to assimilate supporting documentation for Williamson County, but are not proceeding with any of the analysis or public processes. Hays, Bastrop, and Caldwell Counties are proceeding as planned.
In addition to the County Stakeholder Teams that define each county’s conservation priorities, the Greenprint includes a Regional Steering Committee that provides oversight for the entire process. This small group of 5 to 7 individuals will include elected officials from the Austin-Round Rock MSA. We are currently working with the Hays, Bastrop, Caldwell, and Travis County judges to identify their representatives for the Greenprint Regional Steering Committee.
Participating in this group will give Williamson County a strategic view of the project without committing Williamson County to the process. The group is tentatively scheduled to meet three to four times over the next year.
Sincerely,
Betty
