Consider approving Change Order No. 3 in the amount of -$3,852.00 for CR 138, a Road Bond project in Precinct Four.

Background

This Change Order adds a new Contract item to replace the specified final course PG 70-22 asphalt binder with a PG 64-22 binder. The new TxDOT specification allows the contractor to make the substitution automatically if the PG 64-22 asphalt binder meets specific test results. The specification for hot mix asphalt used on this project does not automatically allow the substitution, however the contractor proposed a $1.00/ton credit back to the County and the PG 64-22 asphalt binder meets the test results of the new specification for allowance of the substitution.
