Discuss and take appropriate action for the HMEP Grant Application for Training.

Background

The Williamson County LEPC, through Emergency Management and Hazardous Materials, is applying for a HMEP grant to fund Hazardous Materials Response Training. Previously this training had been funded through Homeland Security Grant funds, but in recent years the funded has decreased to a level that is no longer able to sustain a robust training program. Hazardous Materials Training Programs are needed to ensure that agencies are able to effectively respond to and manage incidents providing for the highest level of safety, both for the public and responders.

The Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness (HMEP) Grant is provided through the U.S. Department of Transportation and administered through the Texas Department of Public Safety Division of Emergency Management.
