Discuss and take appropriate action on starting a bid process for contracting with a towing company to remove unauthorized vehicles parked in the right of way of roadways that Williamson County has jurisdiction over in accordance with Section 2308.353 of the Texas Occupations Code.

Background

Pursuant to Sec. 2308.353(a)(1) of the Texas Occupations Code, a governmental entity that has jurisdiction over a public roadway and that has posted one or more signs in the right-of-way stating that parking is prohibited in the right-of-way may remove or contract with a towing company to remove an unauthorized vehicle parked in the right-of-way of the public roadway. Due to recent parking issues within Precinct No. 3, Commissioner Covey would like to discuss conducting a bid process in order to contact with a towing company to remove unauthorized vehicles parked in the right-of-way of public roadways that Williamson County has jurisdiction over. If the Commissioners Court would like to proceed with a bid process, a discussion as to specific public roadways the county has jurisdiction over where towing would be necessary would assist in developing bid specifications.
