Proposal for tree removal at Disc Golf Course

Information
Agenda Item
Discuss and take appropriate action on operations, maintenance, and restoration of the 18-hole Disc Golf Course at Southwest Williamson County Regional Park.
Background
For visitor safety reasons, the disc golf course was closed for six months on April 17, 2012 to give time for a recommended course of action to remove approximately 250 trees from the primary play areas. The Parks Department sought commercial bids to cut and remove (or chip) trees and grind stumps. Bids ranged from approximately $109,000 to $75,000. Given the extreme commercial costs to remedy our problem, we would like the Court to consider and approve a proposal from the Parks Department to perform the same work (details may be found in the supporting document) We currently have other use areas in parks, and areas along the Brushy Creek Regional Trail that need similar attention. Given our predicted weather pattern, we expect more trees to die, thereby compounding and prolonging this particular safety aspect of our business.
