Agenda Item
Consider approving a Burn Ban Order prohibiting outdoor burning in the unincorporated area of Williamson County for up to Ninety (90) days.
Background
Drought conditions in Williamson County continue to deteriorate and have reached the "Extreme Drought" level according the U.S. Drought Monitor. The Keetch-Byrum Drought Index (KBDI) is currently an average of 620 (high - 684 / low - 565) as of July 5, 2012. On June 5, 2012 the Williamson County KBDI was an average of 410. A survey of the Williamson County Fire Chief's Association was unanimous for the implementation of a burn ban by respondents, stating heavy fuel conditions and an increase in the number of outside fire responses to include controlled burns that were unable to be maintained or controlled.
