Consider and take appropriate action on bow hunting program on the Williams tract.
Background
On October 20, 2009 the Commissioner Court approved fees for new recreational bow hunting program for the Williams Tract south of Liberty Hill off of CR 282. Last year the parks department had 8 groups of hunters over the 8 weeks of the program. Of the 48 hunters 40 or 83% were Williamson County residents; hunters were also from Travis, Llano, and Burnet counties with one hunter from Alabama – he was the father of one of the Williamson county residents. The hunters killed 14 deer; 6 bucks and 8 does. The program netted approximately $2000.
This season we will potentially hunt 12 weekends (omitting Thanksgiving and Christmas). It is requested that the fee be raised to $750 per weekend ($125 per hunter). It is also requested that we be authorized to purchase 5-6 additional blinds for $1000. It anticipated that we will net approximately $5,500 this year. The rules & regulations and liability release prepared by the County Attorney’s office are attached. These are the same rules that were used last year without any incident
