Lynda Sue Street has been used as a public roadway since the area was platted but has not been formally accepted nor maintained by the county. Commissioner Birkman plans to submit a grant application to CDBG funds to redo the road and bring it up to county standards at which time the county will take over maintenance of the roadway. In preliminary discussions with Sally Bardwell, the road improvements meet the guidelines for the CBDG funds as it is in area surrounded by low to moderate income homes and it is currently in very poor condition. Preliminary estimates are that the road work would cost approximately $80,000. The roadway is located in the unincorporated area of the county off of CR 172. (see attached map) However, prior to the grant being submitted, the roadway must be deemed as public to qualify for the grant. Therefore, after consultation with Dale Rye of the county attorney’s office, we should accept it as a public roadway first and then submit the grant.
