Discuss and consider approving a line item transfer for Information Technology Services.

Background

Over the past few weeks, we have engaged a number of consultants and engineers to assess the County network, as well as our server environment. They have discovered a couple of things that need our immediate attention. We have also seen these in the form of network outages and server failures over the past few weeks. We have found that our ESX (our virtual server environment) is operating with more virtual servers per physical server than is recommended and healthy and, therefore, we need to buy two additional servers. This has caused a number of outages over the past couple of weeks. We also have discovered switches across the network that are not configured appropriately and, therefore, we need to engage an engineer to configure the switches and routers across the network in order to stabilize our network and greatly improve the performance.
