Hear presentation, discuss, consider, and take appropriate action on the Conceptual Master Plan for Williamson County Trails.

Background

The Commissioners Court approved funding to secure professional services from Baker-Aicklen & Associates to develop a Trails Master Plan for the Parks and Recreation Department. The Trails Master Plan was developed through a planning and analysis process that gathered information and ideas from a variety of stakeholders throughout the County. Stakeholders include, but are not limited to Members of the Commissioners Court, staff from local municipal Parks & Recreation, Planning, and Geographic Information Systems Departments, Municipal Utility Districts, and Williamson County staff. Using Geographic Information Systems, the analysis identified gaps in existing and proposed trail networks within Williamson County, which helped the County recommend priority trail development opportunities that link existing and proposed trails that will increase pedestrain, hike, and bike conveyance between unincorporated areas, municipal utility districts, and cities. The Master Plan will be an important tool that will help guide future opportunities for the County to facilitate further development and connectivity of a county wide trail system that enhances mobility, and meets the desires and expectations of our citizens.
