Consider approving Change Order No. 10 in the amount of -$111,837.04 for Hero Way, a Road Bond project in Precinct Two.

Background

This Change Order adds a new Contract item for additional work required to tie-in the outlying signals to the new railroad crossing signal at Hero Way. Some of the plan sheets necessary for this required work were not included in the original bid set. Additional work was also required by Capital Metro for the final acceptance of the railroad crossing, including raising the elevation of the railroad signal control cabinet, re-grading the drainage ditch, lengthening the CMP of Culvert 2, and adding curb in front of the crossing gates. The additional work will be paid by overrunning existing quantities and adding a new Contract item for the remaining work. The Change Order also adds additional quantities of milling and paving on US 183 to cover the traffic signal loops by pavement. The plans called for the traffic signal loops to be under the asphalt overlay on US 183, but did not quantify the necessary milling or overlay over the entirety of the loop areas in the plans. Finally, this Change Order reduces the Ty B and Ty C hot mix asphalt quantities to the installed quantities, correcting the quantity errors in the plans and providing a significant cost savings to the County.
