Consider approving the closing of Racine Trail from just west of the driveway into Horizon Bay to just east of Monona Park on July 4th from 7:30 p.m. until midnight for a family style block party and consider loaning 4 barricades and 12 cones from Road & Bridge.

Background

For several years, on July 4th, they have closed the 8100 block of Racine Trail for a small family style block party without incident. They would like to close it again this year from 7:30 p.m. until midnight. The closure would start just west of the driveway into Horizon Bay, following along Racine Trail, and ending just east of Monona. They would like to borrow 4 barricades and 12 cones from Road & Bridge. A detour route would be to take Cornerwood to Monona either east or west as Monona loops around and connects to Cornerwood on both ends. (see attached map)
EMS, the Sheriff's Department, Communications, and the county engineer have approved the closure. Also, Sam Bass Fire Department has been notified as well as the adjacent home owners.
