Discuss & take appropriate action concerning renewal & extension of Health & Welfare Benefits Broker/Consultant Services contract effective 6/01/2008.

Background

The Benefits Committee is recommending renewal and extension of the current Health and Welfare Benefits Broker/Consultant contract. This will be the third renewal of this contract. The broker/consultant fee for the contract year beginning June 1, 2008 will not increase from the fee amount charged for the first and second contract years which initially began 6/1/2006. However, this renewal will only be for the time frame from June 1, 2008 through the end of the fiscal year on September 30, 2008 and the monthly rate used in the annual contracts will remain constant for these months. Another renewal will be presented to the Court effective 10/1/2008 to align the contract years with the fiscal years. The contract has been reviewed and approved by both Hal Hawes, County Attorney's office, and Jim Gilger, County Auditor's office.
