Discuss and take appropriate action regarding a Resolution from the Commissioners' Court supporting the application for the DWI/Drug Court grant, the concept of the DWI/Drug Court and the application for funding.

Background

The Williamson County Adult Probation with the support of the County Court-at-Law #2 established a DWI.Drug Court in 2006-2007, from the Governors Office Criminal Justice Division. This DWI/Drug Court was created to deal with offenders charged with misdemeanors involving arrests fro drugs and impaired driving. This grant will not burden Williamson County for any additional funds. Any funds needed to "match" will be provided through the Adult Probation Department. Since the DWI/Drug Court establishment in 2006, the program has had approximately a 90% success rate with 18 graduates.

The grant requires a resolution from the Commissioners' Court supporting the application fro the DWI/Drug Court grant. If the Court approves of the grant, a motion would be necessary in the form of a resolution supporting the concept of the DWI/Drug Court and the application for funding. The said resolution and working agreements with 2 counselling agencies (Lifesteps, Inc and Cornerstone Counseling, Inc)are attached.
