Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on recognition of Williamson County Attorney’s Office recipients of the National Crime Victims’ Rights-Crime Victim Advocate Hall of Fame Awards.

Background

Each year the Williamson County crime victim advocates choose individuals who have gone above and beyond in their service to victims of crime. Three of the twelve recipients from this year’s Williamson County National Crime Victims’ rights ceremony which was held on April 22, 2015 are from the Williamson County Attorney’s Office and they are First Assistant County Attorney, Brandon Dakroub; Chief of Staff, Peggy Vasquez; and Volunteer, Lea Bob Gardner.
Brandon Dakroub was instrumental in restructuring the Victim Services division which helped to expand services to victims of crime. Peggy Vasquez makes herself available to check on victims that come to our office and see that their needs are met so that they feel comfortable during the long hours they are here. Lea Bob Gardner volunteered her time and talent to redecorate our victim rooms. Utilizing donated items and with a budget of practically zero, Lea Bob was able to create an environment in each room that was comfortable and inviting, a safe place for victims to tell their story or wait to testify, a Jungle Nook which has been very successful with children and two cozy rooms for adults.
