Consider and approve sale of the following surplus property to the County of Blanco as authorized by TLGC §263.152 (a) (1): _1_ T5365A Quantar Base Station/Repeater – Sales price _$ 1,000.00.

Background

This unit was reclaimed from the shelter cleanup project that was put forth in the fall of 2012 by Wireless Communications, to clean out all the antiquated equipment that was left from the County’s 4 original analog shelters. This equipment was part of the Cedar Park stand-alone system that was originally handed over to CWICS to be included with first County wide radio system. The cutover from the Analog to digital was conducted in 2005, but the original systems were never reclaimed and disposed of. Though the Quantar is no longer being produced by Motorola, and has since been replaced in the County’s network of by GTR repeaters, the unit is still functional and it can serve as a repeater station for NPSPAC. (Our County currently already supports NPSPACs 91-94 on Quantar based technology and there are replacement projects currently being proposed to replace that lineage equipment as well, but for the time our area is covered quite well). For knowledge history, NPSPAC is utilized at the Federal level nationwide. This allocated channeling allows agencies to interoperate despite system differences. Blanco County who is on VHF will be utilizing this 800 MHz Quantar as a NPSPAC repeater to allow them the opportunity for 800 interoperability when the need arises.
