Consider approving resolution to encourage residents to participate in the development of the Williamson County Community Wildfire Protection Plan.

Background

Jarred Thomas, Williamson County Emergency Management Coordinator, is coordinating a group effort to develop the Williamson County Wildfire Protection Plan as defined in the "Healthy Forests Restoration Act of 2003." This is a comprehensive plan that will include a threat assessment, capabilities assessment, and assist in the development of mitigration strategies for Williamson County as it relates to Wildland/Urban-Interface Fires. With the sustained growth in once rural areas of the county, it is imperative that we perform these analysis to decrease the likelihood or effects of catastrophic wildland fires.
