Consider approval of conversion of six county jail administrative technician positions to corrections officers.

Background

See attached letter from Texas Commission on Jail Standards requiring these conversions.

Currently, the six administrative technicians are the classification officers for the County Jail. The Tx. Commission on Jail Standards is requiring that all classification officers carry a jailers license. This license is only required for Corrections Officers.

Also attached is a financial analysis of these conversions. This analysis includes both the annual cost as well as the cost for the remainder of fiscal year 09/10. Ashlie Koenig has been informed of this requirement and has requested these conversions to be included in the County Jail fiscal year 10/11 budget request.
