Discuss and take appropriate action on participation in the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) through CAPCOG.
Background
The Governor's Office, Criminal Justice Division (CJD) will receive $90 million in Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Funds as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Forty ($40) million dollars will be allocated among the 24 COGs in Texas to score and prioritize at the local level. CJD has allocated $2,058,235 to CAPCOG Region 12 to support local criminal justice efforts. These funds will be available through a competive grant application process. The due date for these applications to be submitted to the Governor's Office is Monday, June 1st, 2009. The Sheriff's Office and Juvenile Services are working on application details for grant submission.
