Discuss and consider changing the CAD Manager position to a GIS Analyst position in 911 Communications Department and moving the position to the ITS Department.

Background

Emergency Services and ITS staff are requesting that the currently funded CAD Manager position be changed to a GIS Analyst position in 911 Communications.

Emergency Services staff and ITS staff have agreed to convert the current position of CAD Manager in 911 Communications to a GIS Analyst position in 911 Communications. Althought the position will be in 911 Communications, the will report to the GIS Manager in ITS for day-to-day work. The staff person will be dedicated for public safety GIS efforts, most notibly the new dispatch system implementation.
Budget impact: The salary of the GIS Analyst will be $41,561, the same as other GIS Analysts in the County. This is $21,784 less than the currently funded $63,345 for this position.
