In 2006 the City of Austin and Williamson County entered into an Interlocal Agreement to upgrade the County's radio system from analog to a digital network. By 2007 the City of Austin had been providing the County with radio management, administrative, and oversight services for the County radio infrastructure along with assistance for projects. It was at this time the City and County both agreed for the County to pay an annual service fee of $135,000 per year for these services until such time Williamson County could proficiently manage its own network and project management responsibilities. Williamson County and the City of Austin have both come to the consensus that "we" the County rely minimally now on the City of Austin for these services and that to have such a contract in place is no longer deemed necessary. |
