Discuss and take appropriate action on a resolution recognizing April 2014 as National County Government Month.

Background

National County Government Month is celebrated each April by the nation's counties to raise public awareness and understanding about the roles and responsibilities of county government. This year's theme is:

Ready and Resilient Counties: Prepare. Respond. Thrive.

County offices are encouraged to participate in County Government Month by hosting a variety of community outreach events and activities. These may include: distribution of information about county programs and services, tours of county facilities or recognition ceremonies for county employees and volunteers.

During County Government Month, Williamson County sponsors Employee of the Year awards in each of the following four (4) categories aligned with Williamson County’s Vision Statement:

Professional Leadership (Highly Professional & Committed to Williamson County)

Project Leadership (Special Project that is Responsive to Wilco Citizens’ Needs)

Creative Leadership (Conservative, Responsible & Efficient Cost Saving Solutions)

Wellness Leadership (“Commit to be Fit” Healthy Lifestyle Model for Employees)

Employees may nominate a colleague who displays leadership in one of these 4 areas. A team of external judges reviews the nominations and selects the 4 winners.
