Review and approve the acceptance of funding provided by the FY13 Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness grant to conduct a Hazardous Materials Commodity Flow Study in Williamson County.
Background
The Williamson County LEPC, through Emergency Management and Hazardous Materials, has been approved for a HMEP grant to fund a Commodity Flow Study within Williamson County. This study will provide an in-depth report on the types and quantities of hazardous materials through Williamson County by way of roads, rail, and pipeline. This information will allow for a more comprehensive county threat/risk analysis, emergency planning, and responder training programs. Commodity flow study targeting hazardous materials has never been performed in Williamson County which is divided by IH-35, the primary route for cargo from Mexico to Canada.

The Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness (HMEP) Grant is provided through the U.S. Department of Transportation and administered through the Texas Department of Public Safety Division of Emergency Management.
