Discuss and take appropriate action on Recognizing the Receipt of the Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle Gold Member Award for the second year.
Background
Williamson County, again this year, received the highest distinction from the Comptroller of Public Accounts that recognizes local governments that are striving to meet a high standard for financial transparency online. “Gold” highlights those entities that are setting the bar with their transparency efforts.
New Requirements this year:
• Transparency web page accessible from the home page which will link user to the various departments concerned with financial transparency.
• Financial documents for at least the previous 3 years.
• Payment descriptions must be included within the payment registers.
• Visual representation of financial data – charts or graphs that make the financial data more easily understood by the public.
Williamson County received 19 out of a possible 20 points. Of the 16 counties currently participating in the 2011 program, this score is the highest received beating out other counties such as Collin, Harris and Fort Bend.
This award is good for one year and must be re-applied for each year meeting revised and improved criteria.
