Consider & take appropriate action regarding assumption of endangered species property management on an additional 13-acre tract adjacent to Twin Springs (Whitney) Preserve. Accept funds from Whitney Development in the amount of $13,000 as compensation for assuming management of this property.

Background

Adjacent to the Twin Springs preserve is an additional 13-acre preserve. Whitney Development had obtained a 10(a) permit on this property through the US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) as a part of the development of the Whitney Woods subdivision. FWS preferred that the Twin Springs Preserve and the additional 13 acres fall under the same management plan. As a part of the final negotiations on the preserve tract the management of the entire 10(a) permit, including the 13 acres, was transferred to the county. In consideration of this transfer, a sum of $13,000 was delivered to the county by Whitney for management of the 13 acres.
