Hear presentation on Community Clinic Services (CCS) Program.

Background

The Community Clinic Services (CCS) Program is now in it's sixth year. This program has successfully helped uninsured individuals in Williamson County receive primary medical care from local clinics in each of the four precincts. The program provides care for medical, dental and mental health visits. The program only serves those with no other source of payment for their care, and has been very successful in identifying other payment sources through the use of the Medicaider program. The Medicaider program also enables the clinics to ensure that the CCS program only serves Williamson County residents. By sharing the costs of the healthcare visits with the clinics and receiving a sliding scale co-pay from the patients, we assist the clinics in providing service to more patients. Having a primary medical home helps prevent patients from seeking primary medical care at local emergency rooms, which is very costly and an inappropriate location for primary care. A medical home for primary care also keeps individuals productive members of our community by preventing and treating medical problems before they become more severe and expensive.
