Discuss and consider approving a line item transfer for the Road and Bridge Department

Background

At the time that Road and Bridge budgeted rehabilitation work for University Blvd, we were unsure if the work would be performed in-house or by a contractor. The rehabilitation work is asphalt related and was therefore budgeted into the Asphalt line item as in-house work. Since that time, Williamson County working cooperatively with the City of Round Rock, added in an asphalt overlay at the City’s request and expense. Because of this change in scope, and also due to the current Road and Bridge work load, it was decided to bid the work out to the private sector. This transfer is necessary to fund the contract that has been bid and will be placed on the agenda for the Court’s consideration to award, Tuesday, April 3, 2012.
