Consider awarding proposals received for Food Service for the Jail to the lowest and best proposal meeting specifications - Aramark Correctional Services.

Background

The Sheriff's office selected the current vendor Aramark Correctional Services to be awarded the Jail Food Service Contract for the contract period beginning April 01, 2011 through March 31, 2014. While all proposers met the specifications, Aramark has been providing great service for several years and their pricing is significantly lower than all other proposers'. Additionally, Aramark's new pricing is less than what the Sheriff's Office is currently paying resulting in a $0.07 savings per inmate meal. This represents a savings of approximately $150,000 over the (3) year contract period.
