Agenda Item
To discuss and consider approving the JABG grant resolution for the Community Mentoring Program under the Governor's Office/Criminal Justice Division for the Juvenile Services Department
Background
First year requested funding for the JABG Community Mentoring Program grant in the amount of $29,803 from the Governor's Office, with a cash match amount of $3,311 from Williamson County. This program will target youth ages 10-17 on court ordered probation or deferred prosecution. The majority of those served will use the program as a transition service immediately upon release from a residential placement facility. The goal of this program is for the mentors to assist the youth in making positive changes that will help them successfully complete their probation by assisting with school performance, family relationships, life skills, and involvement in positive activities. The program will also strive to reduce violations of probation, recidivism, and additional placement in residential facilities.
