NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC
WILLIAMSON COUNTY COMMISSIONER’S COURT
February 11, 2013
6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.

The Commissioner’s Court of Williamson County, Texas will meet in Special Public Hearing on "Countywide Polling Place program" in the Commissioner's Courtroom, 710 Main Street, in Georgetown, Texas to consider the following items:

REGULAR AGENDA

1. Hear Presentation by the Elections Department regarding Countywide Polling Place program.

2. Hear Citizen Comments regarding participating in the Secretary of State’s Countywide Polling Place program.

The program will eliminate county election precinct polling places and establish countywide polling places or vote centers so that voters can go to any voting location on Election Day.  Under the program, countywide polling places would be used for:
• each general election for state and county officers;
• each election held on the uniform election date in May;
• each election on a proposed constitutional amendment; and
• each election of a political subdivision located in the county that is held jointly with an election described by Subdivision (1), (2), or (3).
The public hearing will consist of a presentation on the plan by the Elections Department, followed by time for public comments. Under the program, the number of voting locations would be reduced from 86 to 56 over time and would be all electronic. Vote centers would not be used for primary elections. Currently, approximately 65 percent of the voters participate in early voting, which is all electronic and voters can vote at any location. More information is available on the County’s Elections website at www.wilco.org/elections.
In addition to commenting during the hearing, the public will be able to make comments during Commissioners Court on Tuesday, February 19, starting at 10 a.m. The Commissioners Court will make a decision at that meeting about the County’s participation in the countywide polling place program.

3. Comments from Commissioners.
