Consider and take appropriate action on authorizing the destruction of 15 vehicles in compliance with the Local Initiative Clean Vehicle Grant.  The grant paid for 50% of the costs associated with purchasing 15 replacement hybrid vehicles.  (Revised list filed with minutes.)
Background
The Local Initiative Grant Contract requires that the county submit documented proof that the old vehicles were taken out of commission and destroyed.   A grant agency authorized dismantler will pick up the retired vehicles and destroy them per the grant guidelines.  Vehicles slated for replacement were selected based on high mileage and poor fuel efficiency.  An earlier list of vehicles submitted for Commissioners' Court review on September 30, 2008 was modified to transfer vehicles between departments to allow the greatest air quality benefits while permitting the County to trade out its oldest and least efficient vehicles.
